Minecraft Ideas
I sometimes come up with ideas for Minecraft.
Some of these lend themselves to being features in the standard game, but most are more appropriate as mods.
I have grouped these ideas based on whether they can run solely on the client, or the server has to be in on it, too.
Client side
- Consistent shift-click (furnace, brewing stand)
- Show waypoints, faraway players (like rei’s minimap)
- Newtonian celestials
- Proper orbits for sun, moon, planets, stars
- Procedurally generated stars
- Shooting stars (possibly with meteorites, server-side)
- Comets
- Nebulae
- Aurorae
- Dynamic clouds
- Form over water, dissipate over land, depending on wetness of biome
- Determines fog
- Collide with mountains
- Dynamic merging/splitting
- Degrees of sun depending on cloudiness
- Particle effects

- Reduce monotony

Server side
- Stackable (non-used) tools, potions, soup etc.
- Reverse dispenser (like obsidian pipes in industrialcraft)
