C U IRL
The past few weeks can be summed up in one letter: C.
Of course, I’m referring to the programming language known as C. I’ve had a look at this, and managed to code a small application to download stuff.
With C/C++ comes a lot of libraries, and it’s quite easy to get way too much information when trying to learn C. I’ve personally found the C++ reference website very useful. I tend to code in C, and only use small, nifty C++-functions (like increment-by-one, i++)
I stumbled upon Assembly ’06 just a few days after it had ended. I’ve been drooling over assembly since 8th grade, and now, when I’m finally able to go there, I miss it by mere days! Better luck next year I suppose. Oh, and while I’m in the demoscene mood; tAAt.fi, a personal favourite when it comes to über-indie coding, has an annual Text Mode Demo Contest. As of yet, nothing seems to be arranged for 2006 though.
Haven’t got much more to add, really. Make sure you have a look at BlackBox for Windows, if you’re ever annoyed with the memory consumption/bloatedness of the explorer.exe shell. I’ll have some skins for this uploaded some day :)
Late-addition: Comments work now. Yeah, I didn’t have enough stuff to make an entire newspost, so I just append to this one.
